Build a clear laboratory shopping list
A useful shopping list starts with the work you need to do. Group your requirements into instruments, reusable glassware, consumables and accessories, then note the quantity required for each item.
For every product, include a model number or the specification that matters: capacity, dimensions, measuring range, material or pack size. A request for a “beaker” is less precise than a request specifying the capacity, material and quantity.
Before placing the order, confirm stock, included accessories, the total price and delivery arrangements. For equipment, ask whether any setup, calibration or warranty documentation is included.

Two pieces of glassware can look similar while having different capacities, dimensions or fittings. Read the written specification and check that the item will fit your rack, clamp, stopper or connected apparatus.
Pay attention to whether the price is for one piece or a pack. Confirm the material and any stated temperature or chemical compatibility for your intended use with the manufacturer’s documentation.
When a measurement is missing, ask for it before ordering. If replacing a part, a model number and clear measurements help identify the appropriate match.

Start with the parameter you need to measure and the expected range. Compare the units, stated accuracy, sample requirements and the accessories included with the exact model.
Ask whether the item needs separate probes, reagents, standards or replacement consumables. For a kit, confirm the pack contents and any storage or expiry information relevant to that product.
